Nylo Studios – The Preview
Creativity is communicated through various forms of expression. As fashion is firmly rooted within this manifestation, it is the perfect time for upcoming brand Nylo Studios to bring something fresh to the table. As a contemporary womenswear brand, Nylo Studios explores tailoring whilst capturing elements of beauty within every piece. On a Spring afternoon at the idyllic yet charming Italian showroom, Animali Domestici, a preview of the SS18 capsule collection was presented. Inspired by the glamour of Manhattan’s Studio 54, creative director Nyarju Lomuro, designed a collection that displays female strength, dominance and class. Set in the contemporary aesthetics of the Domestici space in Brixton, Nylo Studios gave us a preview ahead of the eLaunch on the 5th of May. Briefly speaking to Lomuro, we learn of her brand inspiration and interpretation of fashion and style. With the unforgettable theme of tailoring in sample and bespoke pieces through structured and fluid garments, this collection conveyed a strong message of female empowerment;
In all its golden glory, we are firstly introduced to a bespoke jacquard blazer. In a dinner suit style, the feminine touch is created within its curved lapels and raised collar. Styled with a black velvet jumpsuit and gold sandals, this spectacular blazer is the perfect evening piece.
The cool, mint breeze of a tailored suit, again created with the warelike lapels and slim-cut trousers. To match the suit jacket, a silk deep-plunge camisole with sheer detail, allows your attention to be focussed on the suit throughout. The choice of the suit in a silk twill fabric yet again contributes to the gentle, subtle movement and weight on the body.
The fluidity of another two-piece comes with its wide leg culottes and subtle peplum jacket in a silk twill, immediately builds the long-awaited summer feeling. Created in a silver peony colour, this look forecasts the ideal holiday wardrobe as dressed with roped sateen sandals and a cropped white bodice. To complete the wardrobe, Lomuro accessorised the look with round-framed, statement sunglasses in an ash rose colour to complement the suit-minimal yet refined.
Lomuro introduces us to the second bespoke piece in the collection, the forest green jacquard blazer. Its statement lies in the half-cut lapels, giving the illusion of a cropped jacket. The intrinsic details of the jacquard fabric are chic and well-designed especially on an oversized crisp, white shirt dress and black pumps. This has to be my favourite piece, even more so as a bespoke one which adds to its exclusivity.
The ‘Cooling in Culottes’ trend is retold in this look with a faux leather pair in a wide lug cut. The ice-white culottes allow for all colours to be styled with it including the Niagara blue chunky knit jumper tucked effortlessly into this particular look. Completed with blue lips, gold sandals and sunglasses -the conflict between hot and cold, just like the British weather.
The preview draws to a close in all things lavender through another two-piece tailored suit with the recurring wavelike lapels to complete the exploration of pastel colours.
Lomaro signs off this ‘neutral in tone yet fierce in structure’ collection with the signature final line. Her passion for Nylo Studios as a brand, is to enable women to express their individual character and exude confidence through a much-loved medium, fashion. This collection does exactly that.
