Colourful to Minimal ‘Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication ‘ Over the last few months, I’ve taken a closer look at my own style and how it embodies my character. As a fashion stylist, your attention is solely fixated on your clients and the project at hand, whilst subconsciously you emulate your creativity in what you yourself wear on a day to day basis...but I began to ask myself these questions; Do I fully understand what I wear and why I wear it? What does my style truly say about me? Do I not only engage but also appreciate my style? With these three questions whizzing around in my mind, I began to really explore my wardrobe and I’ve come to realise that sometimes less is more. A lot of my clothes, shoes and bags (that I had forgotten I even owned), screamed bright colours, statement patterns and flamboyant fabrics. Yet, as I mature with age and experience, that mentality and character as a young, vibrant extrovert who wanted her clothes to mimic her character, slowly shifts. Shying away from those bright colours and vivacious styles, I’m embracing the softer and simpler tones of neutral colours such as whites, greys, browns and blues. By tweaking the intensity that loud colours and patterns created in my wardrobe, has allowed me to be more experimental with how I piece a look together; a gradual yet graceful transition that is teaching me to truly appreciate and embrace the art of minimalism.More
